About the Role
Prof. Phanish Puranam seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow at INSEAD’s Singapore campus. The postdoctoral fellow will be provided with a salary and a small personal research budget and will join in the ongoing research of Prof. Puranam on the theme of “Organizations and Algorithms”. The focus of this work is on understanding how organizations and organization designs are being shaped by algorithms, in their role as models, tools and intelligent agents. Several projects are underway, clustered around the themes of how to scale collaboration without hierarchy, how to design the informal organization, and the design of platforms for self-assembling organizations.
Starting on 1 September 2022, this is a two-year position assuming academic achievement and service at a level at or above expectations, with annual formal reviews.
The ideal candidate for this Postdoctoral Fellow will be a recent PhD graduate with a deep interest in this domain who can provide research support in terms of literature reviews, analyses, “lab manager” role to coordinate other research support, and possibly to join as an author on some projects. Strong technical skills in empirical analysis and programming, in addition to a thorough training in the organizations and strategy research literature will be appreciated. The role involves a proportion of time dedicated to publishing his/her own ongoing research projects.
Requirements
Applicants must have completed a PhD in Management or related social science discipline before the beginning the fellowship. Prior work (including but not limited to dissertation) must involve working with large datasets.
Excellent academic record and work ethic required.
Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills required.
Enthusiasm for research required. The ideal candidate will be thinking of this position as a platform to build skills towards taking on a research professorship in the future.
Working knowledge of Stata required, Python desirable.
